An ongoing log mainly concerned with the bowel movements of small mammals - or so it seems.
Wednesday, January 31, 2007 Monday, January 29, 2007 I'll say this again. No matter where I am people will always pick me out of a crowd to ask for directions. And again, I want to issue this warning: you will probably get more lost asking me because I see directions visually and can't verbalize them. I say this after trying to explain to some nice german tourists to turn right when I meant left. And it's no use asking me to write down directions for you because the instructions in my head are: look for strange rock, crank wheel, watch for rabbits, accelerate to beat red light, make obscene joke out of billboard, and you're there.
Sunday, January 28, 2007 My brain has totally turned to mush so in attempt to stave off dementia I'm trying to read things to stimulate my mind. Since we were discussing the TV version at work on friday, I decided I'd try to wade through I, Claudius after years of meaning to read it. Which of course leads to more important things on my mind - like wondering if I can make Claudian letters in HTML. Looks like you almost can - at least on the Mac haven't checked this post on a PC. The Half-H doesn't look like it's made it.

Saturday, January 27, 2007 You know what the gym has been missing this year is a grunter. Thank god one arrived today to announce every rep he does. Bonus that he brought along his special lady to impress and also to harange her while she attempts some puny weights.
Thursday, January 25, 2007 Locked out of my office account this morning. Maybe they've let me go and are going to tell me later today. Oh I could use a break right now too but just unfortunately it's just the usual MS server disfunction keeping me from e-mail.
Saturday, January 20, 2007 ![]() Rainer Wolfcastle - "Now for my Woody Allen impression. 'I'm a neurotic nerd who likes to sleep with little girls.'" I've often been accused of hating everything so I just wanted to keep up that image by telling you how much I hate Woody Allen. I say that because it's a nice Saturday morning and Sleeper is on TV instead of a good mind numbing Scooby-Doo episode. Apparently it's a comedy but my memories of it have always been "when does this get funny?". Oh and the soundtrack has my most hated style of jazz too - ragtime with lots of clarinet (I also hate jazz in case you hadn't noticed). Crimes and Misdemeanors was on yesterday. I remember seeing this in the theatre with someone who thought it was thought provoking with a totally unexpected end (wow the two story lines intersect at the end). The only provoked thought I had was how to occupy myself after 10 minutes because it was so obvious what's going to happen. Earlier in my life I even approached his movies with an open mind with the hope that I'd see the genius and sophistication that people are shooting their wads over. Each time I've been let down. Each time the same characters. Lines and slapstick that should have never left vaudeville. Stories pretty much the same once you remove the dressing. In fact I'd say Krull is a more inventive film which isn't saying much. And I'd even say Cannonball Run is a better comedy because the lines are telegraphed as clearly as anything in an Allen film and makes no pretense on sophistication - just an excuse for Burt Reynold's and chums to get loaded and drive fast cars. Not to mention it has Dean Martin in it. So in short. Woody Allen - overrated.
Tuesday, January 16, 2007 ![]() Oh god make it stop! Those freakin Minipops and that annoying commercial of theirs! Especially that jeezly looking kid with his dumbass sideways hat.
Saturday, January 13, 2007 "'Obviously I asked him (Tom Cruise) for his advice because he is a very wise man and a very good friend of mine. It's going to be a big help for us to have friends when we arrive in LA.'"
David Beckham Tom Cruise wise? Maybe relative to Becks. Maybe he was able to deal with all those thetans blocking Becks in Spain.
Friday, January 12, 2007 Sporting-wise I could care less about Beckham signing with a US team. He always seemed way overrated as a player even in his "prime". What I'm not looking forward to is the onlsaught of Posh and Becks celebrity news in North America. And that's what the deal really is - they're making the move more for furthering their marketing appeal rather than his sporting career. So get set for constant updates on the new fashions and eating habits of a has been footballer and his wife Skeletor on Entertainment tonight.
Wednesday, January 10, 2007 ![]() Finally a good image of the older De Rosa logo. Scans from old bike catalogs. Some builders that you don't hear too much about anymore like Ciocc and Olmo.
Tuesday, January 09, 2007 Monday, January 08, 2007 When I have to start the week in grown up clothes, it doesn't set up for being a good week. So I'm going to be heavily caffinated till Friday - possibly Sunday.
Thursday, January 04, 2007 ![]() ![]() When I finally get my new bike I know it will out-perform anything found on these sites, but I love the bikes on EBykr and Tribute To The Plate Fork Crown. The elaborate over-the-top lug work. Headtube crests instead of plastic decals. The stories behind the builders. There's something cool about knowing your bike was originally a bunch of tubes some crusty old Italian guy welded together into something beautiful. Much cooler than a robot programmed to tig weld everything in a pre-set jig. Also discovered a link to the picture of my De Rosa Planet on the EBykr article on Ugo De Rosa.
